Although Ron DeSantis has pledged to remain in the race regardless of the outcome of the Iowa caucuses, some of his supporters are expecting a negative outcome. Following his May campaign launch, the governor of Florida conducted what the Des Moines Register refers to as "an old-school Iowa Caucus campaign," hosting rallies in all 99 counties.

Nevertheless, despite receiving support from state Republicans, such as Governor Kim Reynolds, his rating dropped from 19% in August to only 16% in the most recent Des Moines Register/NBC News/Mediacom Iowa survey. According to the data, Nikki Haley is in second place with 20% of the caucus attendees, behind Trump who has 48% of them.

According to Politico, Hal Lambert, a member of DeSantis' national finance committee, "a close second would be a successful outcome," but anything less would cause issues. Lambert remarks, "I'll be honest: I would say third place is not good."

We don't see how DeSantis can "pull it together" after months of defeats, a donor for the candidate told Politico, requesting anonymity. The donor claims, "It went wrong early and they've corrected a lot late." With DeSantis's team claiming that polls are inaccurate, spokesman Andrew Romeo believes both Trump and Haley are under pressure to perform well on Monday night, "given they are the leading spenders in the state."

According to the Register, DeSantis encouraged enthusiastic supporters in Iowa to face the bitter cold on Saturday in order to cast their ballots in the "meaningful" election. "They can hurl a snowstorm upon us, and we won't back down. We're going to fight, even if they hurl wind cold at us," he said. "We will fight back even if they try to force storylines from the media on us. We will fight even if they throw false polls at us.

Whatever the outcome in Iowa, DeSantis is not expected to withdraw, according to allies. The primary in New Hampshire is the next contest, but DeSantis will go directly to Greenville, South Carolina, where his team promises a "rousing" rally on Tuesday morning after an appearance in Iowa on Monday night.
